Terms and Conditions
Please read these Terms before booking. They explain our pricing, deposit, cancellation arrangements and responsibilities.

1. About Us
These Terms and Conditions govern removals and transport services supplied by SPEEDYVAN LOGISTICS LTD, trading as Speedy Van (“we”, “us” or “our”), to the person making the booking (“you” or “the customer”).
We are registered in Scotland under company number SC904301. Our registered office is 39 Coxton Place, Glasgow, Scotland, G33 5EL.
You can contact us at support.speedyvanltd@gmail.com or on +44 7465 227962.
These Terms apply to bookings made through our website, by telephone or through another booking channel we provide. They should be read together with your quote and booking confirmation.
Nothing in these Terms removes or restricts your statutory consumer rights.
2. Our Services
We provide removals, man and van, furniture collections and delivery services across Scotland and on UK long-distance routes.
The service available for your booking depends on the route, load, access conditions, vehicle availability and handling assistance required.
Your booking confirmation identifies the agreed service, addresses, date or arrival window, pricing basis and any additional work included.
Packing, furniture dismantling, assembly, additional stops and specialist handling are included only where expressly agreed. Storage or other third-party services require separate arrangements where applicable.
Please tell us before booking about unusually heavy, fragile, valuable or specialist items so we can assess whether suitable arrangements are available.
3. Quotes and Prices
All prices are stated in pounds sterling (£). Any VAT that applies to the service will be included in the price presented to you.
Quotes are based on the information you provide, including your addresses, inventory, moving date, property access and assistance requirements.
A fixed-price booking covers the agreed scope of work. An hourly booking is charged using the hourly rate and charging rules disclosed before you book.
Any minimum booking period, billing increments, chargeable travel time and rules for when chargeable time starts and ends must be stated in your quote or booking confirmation.
For hourly services, an estimated total is an estimate rather than a guaranteed final price unless we expressly agree otherwise.
If your requirements change, or material information supplied for the quote is inaccurate or incomplete, we will explain any proposed price adjustment before carrying out additional work. We will not treat an undisclosed charge as automatically agreed.
If an additional service cannot be agreed, we will discuss whether the original service can safely proceed. Any cancellation charge must comply with the cancellation provisions below and your statutory rights.
4. Booking Confirmation
A quote or enquiry does not by itself reserve a vehicle or time slot.
Your booking becomes confirmed when the required deposit has been received and we have issued written booking confirmation.
Payment acknowledgement alone is not booking acceptance if availability or service requirements still need assessment. If we cannot accept the booking, any payment collected for it will be refunded.
Please check your confirmation and tell us promptly about incorrect addresses, dates, contact details, inventory or access requirements.
Unless expressly guaranteed in writing, an arrival time is an agreed arrival window rather than a guarantee of arrival at an exact minute.
5. Deposit and Payment
A deposit of 20% is required to confirm your booking. For a fixed-price service, this is 20% of the agreed booking price. For an hourly service, it is 20% of the booking estimate disclosed to you.
Your deposit is credited against the final amount due. It is not an additional fee.
The remaining balance is payable after completion of the service. For hourly bookings, the balance is calculated using the agreed chargeable time and rate, together with any additional charges expressly agreed, less your deposit.
We will explain the final charges and provide an invoice or payment request. Available payment methods will be communicated when payment is requested.
Online deposit payments are processed through Stripe. Full payment card numbers and card security codes entered into Stripe’s payment form are handled by Stripe rather than stored in our booking database.
Paying a deposit does not by itself authorise us to charge further amounts to the same card. Any subsequent card charge requires the applicable authorisation.
If you dispute part of an invoice, contact us promptly so we can review it. Any undisputed amount remains payable.
6. Cancellation, Rescheduling and Refunds
Contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel or change your booking. We will confirm the request and any applicable charges in writing.
If you cancel more than 48 hours before the confirmed collection time, we will refund payments made for the booking in full.
If you cancel between 24 and 48 hours before the confirmed collection time, any cancellation charge will not exceed 50% of the agreed fixed price or the confirmed hourly booking estimate.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the confirmed collection time, or the service cannot proceed because you or your representative are unavailable, any cancellation charge will not exceed the agreed fixed price or the confirmed hourly booking estimate.
These percentages are maximum limits, not automatic charges. Any amount retained or requested must reflect our reasonable direct loss from the cancellation, taking account of costs saved and reasonable steps to reduce the loss, including rebooking the slot where possible.
Your deposit is not automatically non-refundable. Payments exceeding a justified cancellation charge will be refunded. We will explain the calculation if a charge applies.
A booking that cannot proceed because of a customer no-show will not be described as a completed service. The cancellation and loss-assessment rules above apply.
Rescheduling is subject to availability. Requests made more than 24 hours before collection will not attract a separate administration fee, although a different date, route or scope may change the quoted service price. Any revised price will be agreed before the change is confirmed.
For later rescheduling requests, any proposed charge will be explained in advance and must reflect reasonable costs or losses rather than an automatic penalty.
We will normally issue an agreed refund within 14 calendar days of confirming the amount, or sooner where required by law. Your bank or payment provider may take additional time to display it. Refunds normally use the original payment method.
These provisions do not restrict remedies where we are at fault or any applicable statutory cancellation rights.
7. Statutory Cancellation Rights
The usual 14-day cancellation right for distance contracts does not generally apply to transport-of-goods services booked for a specific date or period under regulation 28(1)(h) of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
Where this exception applies, the contractual cancellation arrangements in section 6 apply, subject to your other statutory rights.
If a service or part of a booking is subject to a statutory cancellation right, we will provide the relevant information before the contract is made. Nothing in these Terms overrides that right.
8. Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for giving us accurate information and making reasonable preparations for the agreed service.
You must own the goods or have authority from their owner to arrange their transport.
Please notify us promptly if your inventory, addresses or access arrangements change.
We will consider the circumstances before applying any additional charge arising from incomplete preparations. Extra work, waiting time and other charges must follow the pricing arrangements disclosed and agreed for your booking.
- Have an adult customer or authorised representative available at collection and delivery.
- Ensure the items to be moved are ready at the agreed time.
- Pack loose belongings securely unless packing assistance has been agreed.
- Prepare furniture for transport and arrange dismantling where needed unless this work is included.
- Tell us about stairs, lift restrictions, long carrying distances, narrow entrances and parking restrictions.
- Arrange necessary permissions, parking permits or suspensions where your booking assigns that responsibility to you.
- Provide safe access and tell us about known hazards.
- Keep essential documents, keys, medication and valuables with you.
- Check the vehicle and delivered items with us where reasonably practicable.
9. Restricted and Specialist Items
Do not include unlawful goods, explosives, flammable or hazardous materials, unsecured weapons, cash, jewellery, live animals or other goods unsuitable for the agreed service.
Tell us in advance about pianos, safes, antiques, artwork, unusually heavy items, temperature-sensitive goods and any item requiring specialist equipment or handling.
Specialist items may be accepted only following assessment and express agreement. We may refuse an item that cannot be transported safely or lawfully.
Refusal of an unsafe or undisclosed item does not automatically entitle us to retain the entire booking price. Any revised service, unused service amount or justified cancellation charge will be assessed according to these Terms.
10. Our Responsibilities and Service Delays
We will provide the agreed service with reasonable care and skill and use handling and securing methods appropriate to the agreed load.
We will take reasonable steps to meet the agreed arrival window and notify you of material delays when we become aware of them.
We may pause work where access, weather, site conditions or an item creates a genuine safety risk. We will explain the issue and discuss reasonable alternatives.
If we cannot provide the service, we will notify you promptly and offer a suitable alternative where available. If you do not accept that alternative, we will refund payments for services not provided, subject to any separate amounts lawfully due.
Events outside our reasonable control may affect performance. We will take reasonable steps to reduce their impact. This does not create a blanket exclusion of responsibility for delays or remove your statutory remedies.
Ordinary operational issues are not automatically treated as events outside our control.
11. Insurance and Liability
We hold Goods in Transit insurance with a limit of up to £10,000 and Public Liability insurance with a limit of up to £50,000, subject to the applicable policy terms, conditions and exclusions.
Insurance limits do not mean that every item or incident is covered. Please request details before booking if you need to understand the cover for particular goods or a higher-value load.
Tell us before booking if the total value of the goods exceeds £10,000 or if individual items require special arrangements. We will explain whether the move can be accepted and what arrangements are available.
Our insurance cover and our legal responsibility to you are separate matters. The insurance limit is not an automatic limit on your statutory rights or on liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
We are not responsible for pre-existing damage or loss that we did not cause and could not reasonably prevent. Where inadequate customer packing contributes to damage, responsibility will be assessed according to the actual cause and circumstances rather than an automatic exclusion.
Moving assembled flat-pack furniture may involve additional risks. We will discuss known risks and suitable preparation where appropriate. This does not excuse damage caused by a failure to use reasonable care and skill.
For consumer bookings, our responsibility includes loss or damage for which we are legally liable and which was reasonably foreseeable. Tell us before booking about unusual circumstances that could make a particular loss foreseeable.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
12. Damage Reports and Complaints
Please report visible damage or missing items as soon as reasonably possible. We ask you to send a written report within seven days where practicable so we can investigate promptly.
Include your booking reference, a description of the issue and photographs or supporting information where available.
The seven-day request is not a deadline that automatically removes your statutory rights. We will consider later reports, including where damage could not reasonably have been discovered earlier.
Send complaints and damage reports to support.speedyvanltd@gmail.com.
We aim to acknowledge complaints within two business days and provide a substantive response within 14 business days. If more time is needed, we will explain why and provide an update.
If a complaint remains unresolved, we will provide any alternative dispute-resolution information required by applicable law, including whether we are obliged or willing to participate in a relevant process.
You do not have to use an optional dispute-resolution process before exercising your legal rights.
13. Privacy
We use personal information to prepare quotes, manage bookings, process payments and provide our services.
Our Privacy Policy explains the information we collect, how it is used, who receives it and your data protection rights. It is available through the Privacy Policy link on our website.
Accepting these Terms does not constitute consent to optional advertising or tracking technologies.
14. Governing Law and Consumer Rights
These Terms and booking contracts are governed by Scots law.
If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of mandatory protections that apply in your place of residence.
Nothing in these Terms prevents a consumer from bringing proceedings in a court available to them under applicable law, including the courts of their UK home jurisdiction where permitted.
For business customers, the courts of Scotland have exclusive jurisdiction unless we agree otherwise in writing.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms for future bookings when our services, arrangements or legal requirements change.
The version supplied or made available when your booking is confirmed applies to that booking. Later changes do not automatically alter an existing contract.
Any agreed change to an existing booking will be confirmed in writing.
